Manual Layout Welder

Parsons Company has an opportunity for you in our Welding Department as a Manual Layout Welder! In this role you will be responsible for laying out, fitting and welding fabricated steel, casting & forging components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, screen assemblies, support assemblies, tanks, fenders, gussets, guards, links, steps, decks and other parts. This position will report to the Welding Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to understand and interpret job instructions, blueprints, manuals and specifications.
- Must be able to measure and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, the sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, collaborate and cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, vendors and customers.
- Must be able to calculate, set and adjust machine controls.
- Must be able to perform work and maintain/operate machinery safely and efficiently with limited supervision.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Must be able to report to work on-time and work overtime, including weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing safety, quality or productivity.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of related jobs for cross-training and capacity management.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to go up and down stairs.
- Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, climb, kneel and twist.
- Must be able to lift/carry/pull/push up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to operate pneumatic and/or motorized hand-held tools such as sanders, grinders, drills, impact wrenches, air chisels, or similar hand-held equipment.
- Must be able to maintain full awareness of surrounding manufacturing activities and recognize and respond appropriately to safety hazards and alarms.
Qualifications
- 6 years or more of experience is preferred
- Welding Certificate from an accredited certification program
- A commitment to quality work, attendance and teamwork
Pay & Benefits
This position pays an hourly beginning wage of $23 - $28.75. You are eligible for all holidays beginning on your first day of employment. Following a 90-day probationary period, you will be eligible for benefits which can be found on the employment page.
